SMS notifications, only if you say so.
SMS is optional. You can use WeGoing! without opting into SMS. If you do opt in, here's exactly what to expect.
The short version: if you opt in, we'll text you only about your trips — invites, deposit reminders, status updates. Never marketing, never sold lists. You can stop any time by replying STOP.
— Section 01What SMS we send
If you opt in, WeGoing! may send you SMS messages for the following purposes only:
- Trip invites
- Join codes
- Availability reminders
- Budget submission reminders
- Deposit reminders
- Trip status updates
These are transactional trip coordination messages only, not marketing messages.
— Section 02What we don't send
WeGoing! does not use SMS for behavioral advertising, purchased lists, scraped contacts, cold outreach, or promotional marketing.
We will never text you a sales pitch, a discount, or anything from a partner. If you didn't sign up for a WeGoing! trip, we won't text you.
— Section 03Message frequency & rates
Message frequency varies based on your trip activity — a busy trip planning week might generate more messages, a quiet stretch will generate fewer.
Message and data rates may apply, depending on your mobile carrier and plan. WeGoing! does not charge you anything for SMS; any cost is between you and your carrier.
— Section 04How to opt in
SMS notifications are optional and disabled by default. You can opt in inside the WeGoing! app under your notification settings. The opt-in checkbox is unchecked by default and must be actively checked by you. Here's the exact language you'll see:
— Section 05How to opt out
You can stop SMS notifications at any time, in either of these ways:
- Reply STOP to any WeGoing! text message. Carriers will block further messages from us to your number.
- Turn off SMS notifications inside the app under Settings → Notifications.
You can also reply HELP to any WeGoing! text message to get help, or email us at [email protected].
— Section 06SMS is optional
You do not have to consent to SMS to use WeGoing!. SMS consent is not a condition of using the app, signing up, joining a trip, paying a deposit, or anything else.
If you don't opt in, we'll communicate with you by email and in-app notifications instead. Nothing about the product is gated behind SMS.
— Section 07Who delivers our SMS
We use Twilio to deliver SMS messages. When you opt in, Twilio receives your phone number, the contents of each message, and delivery metadata (whether it was delivered, when, and any carrier responses). Twilio does not use this data for advertising. See the Twilio privacy policy for details on how Twilio handles data.
SMS notifications are not live yet. We're completing carrier verification with Twilio. This page describes how SMS will work once it's enabled.
— Section 08Privacy & data sharing
Your phone number is used only to send the SMS notifications you opt into. It is shared with Twilio for the purpose of message delivery, as described above. It is not sold, rented, shared with advertisers, or used to build any cross-site profile of you. See our Privacy Policy for the full picture of what we collect and how we use it.
— Section 09Questions
For any question about SMS — including opting out, deleting your phone number, or anything else — email [email protected]. A real person responds.
Questions, or want to opt out by email?
Email [email protected]. A real person will respond. We aim to reply within a couple of business days.
